Villa M Berlin: Ultimate asymmetry

The Gneiststrasse in the upmarket Berlin suburb of Grunewald is lined with a number of imposing traditional buildings. The neighbourhood is packed with historical structures and memorials, many of which date back to the 19th century. Nestled among this backdrop of rich architectural history is the location of a truly spectacular building: Villa M.

Built on a slightly elevated plot, this four-storey villa owned by a Berlin dentist stands out from its surroundings. Not only because of its raised position, but also because of its unusual asymmetrical architecture. There’s no point in looking for a right angle in this building: The house looks like it has been carved from an enormous rock. In spite of its extravagance, Villa M fits harmoniously into its environment, nestled among the trees like an artistic sculpture.

Villa M Berlin: A forward-thinking villa

Villa M is an extraordinary feat of architecture. But during its construction, the owner was also keen to ensure that his future home would be capable of adapting to changes to his living situation. Thanks to the flexible layout of the 530-square-metre, four-storey home, three generations are able to live in the house together. Each storey can function as a self-contained home accessed via its own staircase, enabling each family unit to live independently while also benefitting from the use of communal spaces.

Expressiveness and elegance

The expressive design continues inside the Villa M Berlin. There are virtually no right angles, which gives the interior a dynamic look. Together with the kitchen, the living room forms a light and airy, open-plan area that extends out onto the patio. In the summer, the doors can be opened to create a single indoor and outdoor space, with light brown travertine natural stone flooring and integrated underfloor heating throughout.

The electrical systems were also selected to suit the elegant design of the property. To match the high-quality surfaces, the client opted for minimalist switches from the Gira E22 design line.

Quality of life and total relaxation

To complement the high quality of life offered throughout the interior, the villa also incorporates a luxury spa area for total relaxation. In addition to a sauna and shower, this area features a large pool, which is kitted out with coloured lighting for an exclusive look.

If the weather is good, the two patios and garden are the perfect place to relax. Residents and visitors can enjoy the sun and views of the property at any time of day from the stone blocks embedded into the lawns.

What do you like best about Villa M – its extraordinary architecture or the flexible design?
