Furniture inspired by nature: unusual interior design for your home
Unusual furniture design takes a lot of creativity and imagination, or sometimes just a keen eye on nature. Many interior designers turn to plants and animals as inspiration for special designs. We present three unusual design ideas to bring flora and fauna into your home.
1. The Leaf Collection from Arper invites you to take a break outdoors
The renowned design studio Lievore Altherr Molina was inspired by nature in the design of its Leaf Collection for Arper.
As the name suggests, the design is based on the sweeping shape and delicate structure of a leaf. The Leaf Collection consists of lounge chairs, a lounger and two chair models. With chrome-plated or matt lacquered steel frames, this unusual furniture is ideal for the patio and garden. Available in white, green, black and mocha versions, the colours are also close to nature.
2. Eames House Bird: a stylish living accessory from nature
Charles and Ray Eames decorated their private home with many objects and accessories that they brought back from their travels. For decades, a figurine of a wooden bird – an artefact of American folk art – stood in the middle of their living room.
Today the Eames House Bird is available from Vitra in two versions, black or natural walnut, which emphasise the timeless, natural character of the minimalist sculpture. With its unobtrusive design, the bird figure adorns sideboards, shelves and display cabinets in modern living environments and is also an ideal complement to the legendary wooden animals by the Dane Kaj Bojesen.
3. LUM floor lamp: useful technology in an unusual form
Minimalist in form, the LUM floor lamp elegantly winds its way through puristic living environments. Tucked away behind the clear, timeless design of a snake-like tubular steel structure is ultra-modern LED technology for individual lighting. To switch it on and off, you only need to move your hand lightly along the horizontal light arm, which you can rotate by up to 360 degrees to direct the beam.
Furniture inspired by nature can be used with any home décor style to catch the eye in an unusual way.
Does your living room also have unusual furniture designs inspired by nature? We look forward to your comments.
