Gira mobile DCS: An innovative new way to communicate with visitors

We’ve all been there: You’re expecting an urgent delivery, the postman arrives, and no-one is at home to receive the parcel. Wouldn’t it be great to be able to open the door to your postman even if you’re not at home? Intelligent building technology manufacturer Gira has made this possible with the Gira mobile DCS app: an expansion for its door intercom systems. The app provides a highly secure, encrypted mobile portal for Android and iOS devices, enabling users to operate their door intercom wherever they are in the world.

The Gira portal: A convenient solution when no-one is home

It’s a frustrating scenario: The postman rings the doorbell with an important letter or package for you. You’re expecting the delivery and would gladly accept it – but you’re not home.

The new mobile add-on to the Gira DCS IP gateway allows home owners to communicate with their visitors from afar.

It also enables you to open the door to your home from anywhere – even if you’re on holiday on the other side of the world.

Users of the new mobile DCS app receive a notification on their smartphone when anyone rings their doorbell. The user can then speak to the visitor directly via their smartphone, open the front door and even the garage door or garden gate via a home server, such as Gira X1, so that the package can be delivered to a secure location.

The app enables you to keep an eye on what’s going on at home even if you’re away for a while. From your smartphone, you can see who is ringing your doorbell from wherever you are.

Mobile door communication from Gira: Smarter than ever before

The Gira mobile DCS app incorporates a number of useful features, all accessed through an attractive and user-friendly interface. The “early media gadget” allows you to see who is at the door before you initiate communication, enabling you to decide who you want to speak to so that you don’t have to get into any discussions with uninvited visitors. The system provides an updated image of your visitor twice every second. Additional functions will be released in future updates.

User interface designed for easy operation

The Gira mobile DCS app is designed to be user-friendly, providing quick access to all of the key functions of your door intercom system. To activate the new mobile expansion, simply set up the add-on via the DCS IP web browser and link it to the new app. If the app isn’t open when your doorbell rings, the system generates a push notification on your device, which you can respond to with a tap of the screen.

Secure data means a secure home

The new functions are designed not only to make door intercom communication more intuitive and practical, but also more secure. The add-on uses the secure data access features, that are also integrated into the Gira S1, ensuring that data transmitted via mobile technology is protected. Highly security-sensitive actions, such as opening doors, require you to enter an additional PIN. In accordance with data protection laws, the system does not save any audio or video files.

The portal is far too slow. When someone rings the doorbell there is a huge lag on passing this on to the phone. Usually, the person is already gone before you get a chance to answer. 

Besides this, it is not possible to approach the video when nobody rings the doorbell.

The number of times that the system is not available due to maintenance is not serious anymore.

The last time maintenance was done I was not able to connect to my system at all anymore. It is now two months and I have heard NOTHING from GIRA despite my emails and emails from my installer. 

Really not a system that I would recommend!!

Get something that works but not GIRA

I am asked to give comments and the website does not accept this because it cannot verify whether or not I am a robot. terrible service!!!!
