A purist dream home in Ibiza: The Ca l'Amo house is a Mediterranean retreat
Just outside the municipality of Sant Mateu in Ibiza, an ensemble of five cubic structures forms the Ca l'Amo house. Pine trees, junipers and rustic quarry stone walls directly on the edge of the forest form the Mediterranean backdrop for this modern family home near the north coast of the Balearic island.
But the idyllic holiday setting is not the only thing that makes this house a special retreat. Let's find out which elements, from architecture to design, in addition to its location, make the Ca l'Amo house a dream home.
Five white cubes make a harmonious whole
The Ca l'Amo house was designed by the award-winning architect Marià Castelló, whose office is based in the neighbouring island of Formentera. The single-family house was built in dry construction on a continuous stone building base. The five rectangular cubes with a white façade fit together to form a harmonious whole.
Clear lines and open perspectives characterise the overall architectural concept. Three of the cubic structures are connected by passageways and form a spacious living area for the family. The fourth cube serves as a roofed outdoor area and offers space for social gatherings. The guest area in the fifth cube, on the other hand, is spatially separated by a pool.
Natural building materials create a harmonious connection to the surroundings
The arrangement of the rooms and their partly open, partly closed connections not only ensure exciting views, but also free air circulation and natural ventilation throughout the house. The building reflects the Mediterranean landscape through its natural building materials. Thanks to prefabricated wooden elements and light-coloured, mineral panels on the exterior cladding, the cubes blend into the surroundings.
The wooden elements of the façade can also be moved and used as flexible shades. For the interior floors, the architect used limestone in various formats and surfaces. This has, therefore, led to an interplay of the smooth, mineral limestone floors with the wooden ceilings and wall elements to creates a unique ambience in which Scandinavian and Mediterranean influences flow together.
Purist design with selected design highlights
The purist interior design underlines the relaxed atmosphere and at the same time draws the eye to selected designer pieces. Special highlights come from Spanish outdoor furniture designer, Gandía Blasco, and the Diabla Outdoor brand, for example.
The extraordinary style mix is perfectly complemented by the minimalist Gira E2 switch series. The design impresses with its clear, angular shape. Paired with high-quality materials and a pleasant feel, the switch series blends harmoniously into the interior design.
Holiday inspiration: even more living ideas for the modern home
The relaxing Mediterranean ambience of the Balearic Islands also characterises the location of the latest Gira showroom in the touristic spot of Palma de Mallorca.
Since November 2019, visitors to this area have been able to experience modern Smart Home technology over an area of 70 square metres. After Barcelona and Madrid, this is the third Gira showroom that invites visitors to discover living concepts on holiday.
